LA 4 HAIYAN RELIEF

Inspiration Nov 29, 2013

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving homieloverfriends! I hope you all enjoyed spending the holiday with your loved ones, eating plenty of good food, maybe even sharing the love and helping others to some good food.  Now that you’ve spent a full day being extra thankful (AND full) I would love it if you would take a moment to share your blessings with those who need it most right now.

As you are aware, the Philippines has recently been devastated by Typhoon Haiyan. I am honored to say that I am a part of a wonderful event happening this coming Wednesday, December 4th in support of ARK: Advancement for Rural Kids, an organization that has partnered with 6 villages with over 10,000 residents in Cuartero and Dumarao, Capiz, Philippines.  We would be honored if you would join us for this special evening and ask that you help spread the word so that we can raise funds for Typhoon Haiyan Relief.

*Background of Typhoon Haiyan: The Philippines is in an urgent state of calamity due to what is now described by the mainstream media as the worst storm in recorded history- Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. The Social Welfare and Development Department reported that the storm affected 4.28 million people in 270 towns and cities spread across 36 provinces in Central Philippines.  Super Typhoon Yolanda packed a blow on Philippine structures 3.5 times more forceful than Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  As many as 10,000 lives have been claimed thus far and it is estimated many thousands more will parish due to homelessness, hunger, dehydration and lack of medical aid.  The lack of infrastructure, extreme poverty and neglect from the Philippine government continues to worsen the devastation of the many thousands of women and children who have been impacted.
