Summer Reading List
Inspiration Jul 10, 2014
I may have been the only kid in school who was stoked to get the summer reading list. I couldn’t wait to see what books I had to pick up and read before moving on to the books I would inevitably read for fun. Yeah, I was that girl. Bookworm to the very core, I spent as much time with my nose in a book as I did with my head in the clouds. My mom was convinced I’d get hit by a car someday trying to cross the street while reading. I’m happy to say I am still here, alive and well, reading everything and anything always.
SUMMER READING LIST
Autobiographical manifesto for any girl looking to upgrade her life to GIRLBOSS status? Yes please.
I wanted to make sure I read this before the movie came out (guilty habit) & I haven’t seen the movie yet but I promise the book doesn’t disappoint.
Finding ways to focus in an ever increasing distraction filled world isn’t easy, but this book promises more than a few tips no matter what job position or industry you call your own.
A woman loses herself & sets out on a solo journey thousands of miles through the wilderness to find herself again. This isn’t just a book about survival, this is a book about living.
The name alone screams summer. This book is described as “An irresistible, deftly observed novel about the secrets, joys, and jealousies that rise to the surface over the course of an American family’s two-week stay in Mallorca.” And I’m in need of a vacation.
Communication gets you everywhere in our social media filled world- may as well get the upper hand and find out how to communicate better right?
Neil Gaiman first stole my heart with his novel “Stardust” (which was also made into a movie) and I’m all too eager to read his other literary conquests. This one is described as “a harrowing tale of mystery and survival, and memory and magic, makes the impossible all too real…” Count me in Neil.
The Lost Girls isn’t the answer to Peter Pan’s Lost Boys but a dark true story about a serial killer on Long Island who still hasn’t been caught. I’m getting chills just thinking about it but I’m a sucker for crime novels.
I can’t lie about this one. What really caught me was the cover- yes I do in fact judge a book by its cover- & was happy to find that the book in fact sounds interesting and the writer has gained much acclaim after the success of her first novel.
I am re-reading the Giver because it was one of my favorite books growing up and the movie is coming out soon starring Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes and newcomer Brenton Thwaites (the cutie prince from Maleficent).
