Once in a blue moon.

Inspiration Aug 21, 2013

If you happen to have the chance, and i hope that you do, try taking a moment to stand outside tonight and look for the moon. She will be big and full and although she won’t actually be blue, she will in fact be a blue moon. Blue moon is defined in two ways:

1) the second full moon in one month

2) {according to the LA Times} “the original meaning of blue moon, as used by the Maine Farmers’ Almanac, was the third moon of four in a season. Most of the time there are just three moons in a single season, but every once in a while, there are four moons in that time. The extra moon is called the blue moon.

Tuesday night’s blue moon is an extra summer moon — the third moon of four in the season that started on the June solstice and ends with the September equinox.”

But all of that aside, I really just wanted to take a moment to think about the saying, “Once in a blue moon.” Once in a blue moon means, very rarely since blue moons are rare (the next one is in July 2015). I don’t think we should necessarily use this blue moon as an excuse to do something we wouldn’t normally do, but i do think we should take the opportunity to do something amazing every chance we get.

Once in a blue moon life hands you a shining reminder to follow your passions, pursue your dreams, dare to do something that may end in temporary failure OR stunning success. I hope you always find the courage to act on that reminder. Just think, once in a blue moon, you may surprise yourself.

I’m not going to lie. I surprised myself by building this website, on my own, completely clueless on how any of this works. Honestly it’s a miracle you’re even reading this right now. I have nightmares this whole thing will crumble and fall apart like a cyber house of cards. But here we are. Surprise, surprise (:
