Milo Timtam Fudge
Edibles Jan 26, 2020
It feels wrong almost to be celebrating Australia Day while the country is in so much pain. With raging fires across the brush since October- 32 confirmed dead, many still missing, at least a billion animals killed, nearly 8 million hectares of land burned- and then there’s everything else: the toxic air from the fires, extreme temperature highs, flash floods because when the rains finally came there was no brush left to hold the water…. I can’t keep writing about it. It’s devastating.
I’ve personally donated online, I’ve participated in a few fundraisers- F45 raised approximately $400,000 worldwide through a Saturday of Hero Hollywood classes, Sarnies (our cafe) is donating proceeds from cups of coffee sold, I’ve tried to help raise awareness on my social media platforms, but it never feels like enough.*
So to take a small reprieve from mourning Australia, I made a simple fudge that’s oh so Aussie. It only takes 4 ingredients, 1 bowl, 1 pan, and a microwave.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 200g package of TimTam cookies (any kind will work, I went with original this time around)
1 can of condensed milk
375g of chocolate- I did a mix of semi sweet & milk
1/2 cup of Milo mix or any chocolate malt drink mix will do
Here’s what you’ll do:
• Chop up the TimTam cookies into small pieces and set aside. Measure out 1/2 cup of Milo.
• Prepare your pan (20cm x 20cm or any similar size will do) by lining it with a piece of baking paper or wax paper.
• Place the chocolate and condensed milk into a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between, until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is creamy. It took me about 1.5 minutes.
• Mix the milo into the chocolate condensed milk then toss in the chopped up Timtam. Stir it all together then pour into your prepared pan.
• Place the pan in the fridge for 2-3 hours. Take out, slice into cubes, and share with your Aussie friends because let’s face it, they need some extra love these days.
