Gastro 1/6
Edibles Oct 21, 2013
Brunch spots used to be impossible to find in Bangkok but now I’ve found them popping up all over the place, not just in fancy hotels, but in little pockets and corners of Bangkok’s busy streets. One of my favorite nestled away spots, and I mean nestled away, is Gastro 1/6.
Located at the RMA Institute in Sukhumwit 22, you’d never expect to find a brunch cafe cozied up next to a modern art gallery (and vice versa). The pairing is unmistakably genius though. Who wouldn’t want a side of art with their fruit topped french toast?
Seriously though, get the fruit topped french toast- yes i promise there is french toast under all that yummy goodness all drizzled with honey on a powdered sugar dusted plate. Simply amazing.
But don’t let me forget about the poached eggs & sautéed mushrooms all covered with a delicious parmesan grated snow, accompanied by a mixed greens salad, bacon strips, and toast before being drizzled with truffle oil… i think the technical name is Effing Delicious. Order two if you don’t want to share… Unless you really, really love your brunch date.
And if the food isn’t amazing enough, the coffee is awesome too. All in all Gastro 1/6 is a perfectly hidden laid back spot where you can casually enjoy an amazing brunch and stay on to read a book or catch up with a friend.
I was fortunate to catch up with my beautiful friend Ploy and her adorable baby girl Wayla.
Another perk- the menu changes frequently so don’t think twice about going practically every week. I don’t (:
